Spend about three hours rafting the Nantahala River with the Nantahala Outdoor Center. After a safety briefing and short bus ride, you’ll run splashy rapids through a mountain gorge, finishing at Class III Nantahala Falls. Spend about 10 hours in Mae Wang with a small group of up to 18 people. Guides such as Bigg, Nam, and OA teach you to drive a three-passenger tuk tuk, then lead you to a mountain temple, elephant home, Thai lunch, and bamboo rafting.

We loved the experience, but we’re hoping for more time rafting and less time around logistics.
