Some rivers are better in a boat you steer yourself. The 13 below cover sit-on-top days, guided canoe descents and the paddling add-ons operators sell beside the rafts.
From Berat, you’ll travel to the Osumi Canyons for about two hours on the river, passing waterfalls, cliffs, and a cathedral-like rock formation. Guides such as Bledi, Enver, and Renato have led groups here. Equipment, safety gear, and minivan transport are included.

Start with hotel pickup and a 90-minute helicopter flight over Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Black Canyon, and the Grand Canyon West Rim. Then choose a calm river float with lunch or a four-mile kayak trip to Emerald Cave. Guides such as Sam, Kyle, and Eugene add local color.

Meet your Croatian or English-speaking guide at Mićanovi dvori for a 14.5-kilometer trip through the Zrmanja and Krupa canyon. You will kayak in summer or raft when water levels rise. The group includes about 30 people, with two skippers guiding 15 kayaks or several rafts.

Join Sebastian, Marci, or a Bovec SUP guide in central Bovec for a three-and-a-half-hour whitewater SUP lesson on the Soca River. You’ll learn river safety and paddle technique, warm up on calm water, then tackle small rapids with a Starboard board, wetsuit, helmet, and full protective gear.

Meet at 10:00 in Kaštel Žegarski for a guided canoe trip through Zrmanja Canyon. Expect about four hours on the river, karst scenery, a waterfall descent, rented equipment, and coffee, tea, and soft drinks. The route requires moderate fitness and ends near Bilišane.

You’ll travel from Berat to the 3-million-year-old Osumi Canyon with certified guides, including Lucas and Iken on some departures. Meet your instructor at Sport Mix in Bovec for two coached days on the Soča River. You will paddle 5 to 10 km daily, use supplied gear, and follow a route chosen for your progress. Instructor Marci is noted for sharp observation, relaxed coaching, and helping beginners improve quickly.

From Porto, you’ll ride into the Arouca UNESCO Geopark, then paddle a two or three-seat inflatable canoe-raft down about 4 km of the Paiva River. Expect rapids, swims, optional jumps, safety gear, and a stop in Arouca for local food or snacks.

Spend about six hours on a relaxed Rogue River float from Ashland, led by guides such as Trevor or Logan. Expect class I-II rapids, wildlife facts, a one-hour stop at river-access-only Rogue Discovery Park, optional swimming and kayaking, and food available for purchase.

Start at Areinho at 10 a.m. for a four-hour Paiva River canoe-raft trip with guides such as Álvaro or Pedro. Paddle a two or three-seat inflatable boat through rapids, pause for swims and optional 2 or 4-meter jumps, then enjoy Arouca snacks or an included lunch.

Join Mad Goats Norway for a gentle 90-minute paddle from Nedre Foss Gård through Grünerløkka and Bjørvika to the Oslo Opera House. Guides provide kayaks, packrafts, paddles, helmets, life jackets, and instruction. Expect small rapids, a tunnel, city views, and possible splashes.
